Outlander Weekend

An Outlander event you don’t want to miss!

Imagine having special access to the Palace where Claire was held by Governor Martin in Colonial America. Visit the kitchen and stables, tour the interior of the Palace, wander the herb and flower gardens on the grounds, have dinner and wine on the South Lawn of this Historic Palace as the sound of bagpipes fill the night air. You will think you have traveled back in time. And that’s just a small portion of what we have planned.

Your weekend starts on Thursday at our host Hotel, Doubletree by Hilton, on the Waterfront in New Bern. After you arrive and check in we will kick things off with a reception on the riverfront deck on Thursday evening with tasty hors d’oeuvres, some magical surprises and time to get to know each other (and discuss Outlander, of course).

Friday morning, following breakfast at the hotel, we provide shuttle service to Tryon Palace to start our special Outlander Tour throughout the morning. We will take a break around noon at which time you are on your own for lunch (we will provide suggestions). We reconvene at the History Center for a live video chat with different personalities with connections to Outlander. Following our chat session a shuttle returns you to the hotel.

This tour package includes an unlimited weekend pass to Tryon Palace properties. You may visit as much as you wish during normal operating hours. (Fri. Nov 10 & Sat. Nov 11: 9am to 5pm & Sunday Nov 12: noon to 5pm)

That evening we will have a pig pickin’ on the veranda beside the marina on the water at the Hotel. Following that you will have time to explore New Bern night life (or stick around and discuss barbecue & more Outlander).

Saturday morning starts with breakfast followed by special presentations at the Hotel. Cooking, herbs, kilts, clothing and various other topics will be highlighted. These sessions end around lunch and you will have a free afternoon to explore New Bern as you wish. You may want to schedule a trolley tour of the city (see below), shop in historic downtown district or just relax on the deck at the Hotel.

Saturday at 5:15pm we board our shuttle at the Hotel to return to Tryon Palace for a special evening highlighted by dinner on the south lawn. The menu will be taken from the Outlander Kitchen: The Official Outlander Cookbook and we will have wine paired with the various courses. Special music and costumed characters, along with this iconic setting, will provide a fabulous finale for our tour. You are encouraged to dress the way you feel for the evening.

Sunday allows for a leisurely breakfast at the hotel and the time to say goodbye to your newly made friends. You may wish to schedule a trolley tour in the morning (see below). Checkout is not until noon, so enjoy your morning before heading home, the deck will still be open. Don’t forget, your pass to Tryon Palace is good from noon until 5pm on Sunday

This package also includes a 90 minute trolley tour of historic New Bern. We will arrange two tour times that originate at the hotel during the weekend for those interested (Sat afternoon & Sun morning). You will be able to sign up for those tours at the Hotel upon arrival. New Bern Tours will also serve as our trolley shuttles between the Hotel & Tryon Palace for all of our scheduled group events.

Single rate add $220 to $779=$999. A $200 non-refundable deposit is due upon registration. Itinerary subject to change.

We hope to create a “clan” like atmosphere for like minded Outlander fans as we tour, eat and stay together over the weekend, inspiring special moments and lasting bonds.

What are you waiting for?!

Spoiler Alert: FYI-Outlander Weekend at Tryon Palace will be presenting elements of the Outlander story taken from the book “A Breath of Snow and Ashes”. This part of the story line has not been aired on the Outlander TV series to date and some fans may have not read this particular installment in the novel series.
