Outlander Weekend

An Outlander event you don’t want to miss August 9-12, 2018!

Imagine having special access to the Palace where Claire was held by Governor Martin in Colonial America. Visit the kitchen and stables, tour the interior of the Palace, wander the herb and flower gardens on the grounds, have dinner and wine on the South Lawn of this Historic Palace as the sound of bagpipes fill the night air. You will think you have traveled back in time. And that’s just a small portion of what we have planned.

Your weekend starts on Thursday at our host Hotel, Doubletree by Hilton, on the Waterfront in New Bern. After you arrive and check in we will kick things off with a reception on the riverfront deck on Thursday evening with tasty hors d’oeuvres, some magical surprises and time to get to know each other and try out our Outlander trivia challenge.

Friday morning, following breakfast at the hotel, you will have some free time to discover Historic New Bern or hang out by the pool. That afternoon we provide shuttle service to the History Center to begin our special time at Tryon Palace. Late afternoon we will tour the Palace followed by a cocktail reception with music. Then we make our way to the south lawn to have an Outlander dinner taken from the official cookbook.

You are encouraged to dress the way you feel for the evening.

This tour package includes an unlimited weekend pass to Tryon Palace properties. You may visit as much as you wish during normal operating hours. (Fri. Aug 10 & Sat. Aug 11: 9am to 5pm & Sunday Aug 12: noon to 5pm)

Saturday morning starts with breakfast at our hotel followed by Outlander New Bern at the Convention Center next to our hotel. Demonstrations include cooking, herbs, kilts, clothing and various other topics will be highlighted throughout the day. We will have video chats with personalities associated with the Outlander TV Series. Special vendors will also be on hand providing quality products to add to the festivities.

For Dinner we walk next door to our hotel to feast on an NC Barbecue Dinner with all the trimmings.

That evening your package includes a Celtic music concert by the River outside the Convention Center at 7:30.

Sunday allows for a leisurely breakfast at the hotel and the time to say goodbye to your newly made friends. You may wish to schedule a trolley tour in the morning (see below). Checkout is not until noon, so enjoy your morning before heading home, the deck will still be open.

Don’t forget, your pass to Tryon Palace is good from noon until 5pm on Sunday

This package also includes a 90 minute trolley tour of historic New Bern. We will arrange two tour times that originate at the hotel during the weekend for those interested (Fri morning & Sun morning). You will be able to sign up for those tours at the Hotel upon arrival. New Bern Tours will also serve as our trolley shuttle between the Hotel & Tryon Palace for our scheduled group event.

This part of the story line has not been aired on the Outlander TV series to date and some fans may have not read this particular installment in the novel series.
