william wallaceIt is our honored pleasure to announce the formation of The Society of William Wallace USA.  “Wallace USA” represents the coming together of both Americans and Scots in their shared passion for those principles for which William Wallace stood. Namely, his love of Scotland, its people, and their freeborn right to freedom.

“Wallace USA” owes its foundation and allegiance to The Society of William Wallace in Scotland.  As such, our causes, goals and objectives shall be consistent with those of our parent organization. Through the works of our Society, we seek to emulate the ideals of William Wallace.  We also seek to honor and preserve the memory of our departed friend David R. Ross who himself did much for love of Wallace and Scotland.

“Wallace USA’ shall be participating at the Grandfather Mtn. Highland Games, held 8-11, July. Organizational meeting shall be held Saturday the 10th, at 11am in The Chieftain’s Tent.  Membership is open to all who share similar interests and values.  Application forms will be made available shortly and a Facebook page is being constructed. More information will be forthcoming very soon!

David  specialised in the great Scottish hero Sir William Wallace. He loved Scotland’s past AND present. David believed his writing gave him the opportunity to promote Scotland in a positive light. For David, it was always important to show Scotland as ready to take its equal place in the world of the future.

Thought I’d share this with all of those that have a love of Scotland. This was performed by Ted Christopher, a well respected singer/songwriter, and highlights last Friday’s Stirling Bridge commemoration in Scotland. We met Ted and heard him perform this past March, that’s why he will be one of the entertainers featured on the upcoming Albannach Homecoming Tour next March. Imagine standing in Stirling and hearing this song performed. A special experience indeed!

This song is the one Ted wrote for the memorial service for William Wallace held in 2005 in London. David R Ross walked the 400 plus miles from Glasgow to London to commemorate the 700th anniversery of Wallace’s death, along the same route and in the same 19 days that it took the English to drag Wallace to his execution. Having been dismembered and his body parts sent to the corners of the empire, Wallace never had a proper burial. This song embodies the story of Wallace finally returning home.
